Under the impact of the global digital wave, innovation competition among enterprises has gradually evolved from the unit- or process-level to the system-level competition of multi-agent cooperation. How to crack the construction mechanism of enterprise innovation ecosystem has become the key to success for enterprises. With the continuous expansion of digital technology in enterprise management, scholars have gradually begun to pay attention to the construction and function of resource orchestration theory and digital ability in the enterprise innovation ecosystem. In the previous research on resource orchestration, the theoretical connection between "behavior-ability" and "ability-effect" was established. From the perspective of action theory, it has a certain theoretical basis to explore the influence of resource orchestration on the formation of digital ability of Internet-branded enterprises and further build the internal process of enterprise innovation ecosystem. The current research is mainly focused on financial technology enterprises with a good digital foundation, showing the upgrading process of enterprise digital capability and innovation ecosystem, while this study is concerned with the dynamic construction process of innovation ecosystem in traditional manufacturing enterprises with limited technical resources and digital ability, so as to provide a digital transformation experience for traditional manufacturing enterprises and more traditional industries lacking initial digital ability.#br#Following the resource orchestration theory, this study collects first-hand data through in-depth interviews and semi-structured interviews, informal interviews and field participatory observation and conducts a single case study by collecting second-hand data from high-level enterprises, public audio and video materials, newspapers, periodicals and other documents, and self-media reports. Specifically, it adopts the method of structured data analysis through first-order analysis (mainly using the language extracted by semi-structured interviewees) and second-order analysis (using the combination of descriptive codes combed in the first step with the theme and dimension of the research case as the center). Then, through the cross-comparison of original data, second-order codes and other second-hand materials, the study summarizes the three-order coding (five core class attributes) .#br#This study constructs a logical framework of "Resource Orchestration-Digitalization Ability-Innovation Ecosystem", and explores the internal mechanism of implementing resource orchestration by Three Squirrels Co., Ltd., an Internet-branded enterprise that started from scratch, by promoting its formation and promotion of digitalization capability, thus affecting the construction of enterprise innovation ecosystem. The results show that (1) the staged resource orchestration behavior of Internet-branded enterprises leads to three different modes of enterprise innovation ecosystem construction, namely "single subject-integrated pioneering-self-growing interconnected"; (2) as an important promoting factor, resource orchestration behavior always accompanies the innovation ecosystem construction of Internet-branded enterprises, while digital capability co-evolves with them as an mediating variable; (3) the three sub-processes of resource orchestration behavior ,i.e., "resource construction-resource bundling-resource instigation" play a primary and secondary role in different stages of the construction of innovation ecosystem of Internet brand enterprises, and all of them can directly or indirectly drive the construction of enterprise innovation ecosystem.#br#The findings enrich the related research on resource orchestration and digital capability improvement around the theme of enterprise innovation ecosystem construction, and provide theoretical support for Chinese Internet-branded enterprises to construct innovation ecosystem. The study further classifies the nine subprocesses in three stages of resource scheduling theory and analyzes their functions in each stage, improving the theoretical model of resource scheduling. In practice, this study establishes the evolution mechanism model of enterprise innovation ecosystem, which provides a traceable path for Internet brand enterprises to build enterprise innovation ecosystem against the digital backdrop. Moreover, it constructs a dynamic model for case enterprises to cope with the conflict of lack of internal and external resources through resource orchestration so as to enhance their digital capabilities and help enterprises build an innovation ecosystem, especially under the current wave of "online integration and offline, virtual digital transformation of traditional entities", while most Internet-branded enterprises in China lack internal and external resources and have weak digital capabilities. This model provides reference for Chinese Internet-branded enterprises on how to build a resource portfolio and use digital capabilities to develop market opportunities, and then build an innovation ecosystem in digital transformation.#br#
