Abstract This paper deeply discusses the growth process and its internal evolution mechanism of social enterprises based on the background of entrepreneurial ecosystem. It builds social-enterprise growth model, and analyses the each stage of social enterprises growth that are impacted by entrepreneurial ecosystem in varying degrees at the same time. Then, this study proposes self-organization evolution model and proves that the self-organization evolution of social enterprises is impacted by the expansion of entrepreneurial ecosystem network, so it often shows us some characteristics, such as self-renewal, self-adaptation, self-catalysis and self-circulation. Finally, it also shows us that social enterprises play a certain role in connecting and innovating the entrepreneurial ecosystem, although it is not the only element to drive the growth of entrepreneurial ecosystem.
