This paper puts forward four types of openness combination strategies including high width-high depth, high width-low depth, low width-high depth and low width-low depth according to the width and the depth, two dimensions of innovation openness. Taking absorptive capacity as moderator variable, a theoretical model of the relationship between openness combination strategy and innovation performance is constructed. Investigation object includes 201 enterprises which distribute in three major regions and three industries in China. The multiple linear regression analysis method is used for empirical analysis. The results show that those carrying out high width-high depth combination strategy prefer to purchase radical innovation performance, but those carrying out three other strategies prefer to purchase gradual innovation performance. Absorptive capacity does not only positively moderate the relation between the high width-high depth, high width-low depth, low width-high depth and radical innovation performance, but also positively moderate the relation between the high width-high depth, high width-low depth, low width-high depth and gradual innovation performance.

Abstract654)   HTML    PDF(pc) (1249KB)(941)       Save
Digital economy has deepened the company's attention to the needs of customers, and boundary-spanning has become a new strategy for enterprises to meet customer needs and enhance their own competitiveness, which presents the characteristics of deep integration and value innovation. Aiming at these characteristics, this paper proposes a boundary-spanning connotation based on value proposition. It believes that boundary spanning is the process of mutual penetration and integration of different value propositions to form new value propositions, and uses the knowledge transfer process in absorptive capacity theory to describe the transboundary process in detail. In addition, according to the connotation, boundary-spanning phenomena are divided into three categories: the mutual influence of multi-subject and multi-value propositions, the one-way influence of dual-subject and dual-value propositions, and the integration of single-subject and multi-value propositions. Cases are selected to analyze the process of each category, so as to deepen the understanding of boundary-spanning. Finally, future research directions are proposed from three aspects: the antecedents that affect the boundary spanning, the learning barriers in the boundary-spanning process, and deepen boundary spanning case studies.

With the increasing complexity of the national defense industry and the failure of traditional governance theories, accurately clarifying the cooperation network, relationship structure and evolution process between existing governance institutions has become an important issue for the modernization of country's national defense industry. This network includes not only the two major governance bodies of the army and the people, but also the two major functional departments of public and private. The research is based on the idea of "meta-governance" theory, using the 614 policies issued from 1998 to 2018 as the research sample, and applying social network analysis to investigate the governance network structure, inter-institutional interactions, and main role positioning of the national defense industry in different periods. Study shows that the relationship network is a self-organizing network that has evolved with the policy changes of the national defense industry. The network structure has changed from "loose" to "coupled", the core of the network has changed from "single core" to "multi-core", and the governance model has changed from " "fragmented response" is shifting to "co-governance"; individual nodes show different roles in different periods, which are mainly manifested in four groups: collaborative leader, lead leader, reciprocal follower, and marginal follower. Finally, from the perspective of "meta-governance", it re-examines the cross-departmental collaborative governance relationship of heterogeneous subjects in the national defense industry, and proposes corresponding governance strategies.

The study finds that in different provinces, for enterprise, “no matter if the talents are more or the capital is less, they all have the same effect”, that is, redundant talent allocation and insufficient capital allocation are both beneficial to the improvement of provincial innovation efficiency; while insufficient talent allocation and redundant capital allocation have no significant influence on improving provincial innovation efficiency. For university, “the quantity of talent and capital are related to the rise and fall of innovation”, that is, insufficient talent allocation and capital allocation are both detrimental to the improvement of provincial innovation efficiency; redundant talent allocation and capital allocation are both beneficial to the improvement of provincial innovation efficiency. For research institution, “insufficient talent and capital inhibit the innovation”, that is, insufficient talent allocation and capital allocation are both detrimental to the improvement of provincial innovation efficiency; redundant talent allocation and capital allocation have no significant influence on provincial innovation efficiency.

In order to solve the dilemma of low-end lock in the global value chain of high-tech industry, China needs to build and improve the division system of national value chain. This paper constructs the analysis framework of endogenous value-added transmission structure of China's high-tech industry national value chain (NVC), and decomposes the provincial domestic added value by taking electronic information industry as an example. The results show that at present, the upstream technology R&D ability of China's electronic information industry is weak, as well as the overall value-added ability; Both the number and correlation coefficient of the downstream indirectly related industrial sectors are still to be improved; Except of midstream, the domestic added value from exports and the international competitiveness in the upstream and downstream are both low; The eastern and central provinces have their own advantages in terms of domestic total added value and endogenous value-added capacity, while the domestic total added value and endogenous value-added capacity of northeast and western provinces are both weak. At the same time, the degree of international vertical specialization of China's provinces, which is different between provinces in the same region, does not show obvious geographical characteristics.

Manufacturing industry needs to seize the opportunity of Internet to implement intelligent manufacturing and realize transformation and upgrading. The connotation of enterprise transformation and upgrading is to realize digitization, platformization and intellectualization. Platformization is the new direction of intelligent manufacturing development, and platform strategy is the overall planning of intelligent manufacturing. However, there is a lack of research on the open innovation platform model of intelligent manufacturing enterprises, and it does not pay attention to the heterogeneity of platform strategy. Based on grounded theory, two typical intelligent manufacturing enterprises, Haier and Siemens, are selected for comparative analysis, and the platform strategy model of the two enterprises is summarized: Siemens adopts the open Internet of things cloud platform ecosystem strategy oriented to factory management and service; Haier implements the whole process innovation ecosystem strategy of multiplatform mass customization facing users. Through comparative analysis, it is found that the two enterprises are heterogeneous in platform core strategy, platform process strategy, platform integration strategy, platform guarantee strategy and platform expansion strategy, and the economic, social, cultural and technological reasons for the heterogeneity are discussed.

Abstract507)   HTML    PDF(pc) (1339KB)(613)       Save
Energy-saving and environmental protection enterprises are important players in China’s green technology innovation. By constructing a theoretical model, based on the data of 89 companies in Shanghai, this paper conducts an empirical analysis of the impact of open innovation on energy-saving and environmental protection enterprises’ innovation performance. This paper finds that energy-saving and environmental protection enterprises have a strong dependence on open innovation. But the impact of open innovation on energy-saving and environmental protection enterprises’ innovation performance is complex, where are both “promotion effects” and “substitution effects”. The interaction of external knowledge improves the innovation performance of energy-saving and environmental protection enterprises, and may also lead to external technology dependence. Second, the impact of open innovation on technological development and commercialization of research findings is different. Energy-saving and environmental protection enterprises should effectively carry out external innovation cooperation by considering innovation stages and its own characteristics. Third, open innovation needs to be built on the basis of internal innovation input of enterprises. Energy-saving and environmental protection enterprises should pay attention to internal innovation input and external technology digestion and absorption, and realize the superposition of internal and external innovation elements.

With more opportunities brought by economic globalization, enterprises in developing countries can allocate resources globally through cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&As) to establish their own competitive advantages. In these actions, knowledge governance from the acquirer side plays an important role in motivating the knowledge employees of the target side, facilitating them to stay voluntarily and serve the innovation strategy of Chinese enterprises, but the existing research fails to explain how to government knowledge especially how to choice the mode of knowledge governance. Based on the research framework of knowledge governance, four representative successful cross-border M & A cases are selected, then this paper focuses on the process of ambidextrous innovation and knowledge governance in these four cases. It is found that the ambidextrous innovation mode of enterprises influences the choice of knowledge governance mode. In the process of M & A integration, enterprises have formed three ambidextrous innovation modes: equal emphasis on exploitation and exploration innovation and focusing on one of exploitation and exploration innovation while consider the other, and three corresponding governance modes: hybrid mode, authoritarian mode and cooperative mode. The influence path is: ambidextrous innovation determines the goal of knowledge governance, and the goal of governance determines the combination of formal and informal governance mechanisms. The influencing mechanism is that the formal and informal governance mechanisms are more suitable for the characteristics of exploitation and exploration innovation respectively, therefore, when enterprises choose equal emphasizing on exploitation and exploration innovation or focusing on one of them while considering the other, they must choose the corresponding combination of formal and informal knowledge governance mechanisms.

Knowledge worker bear the main responsibility of technological innovation in knowledge-based economy. A few studies discussed the influence of human resource slack on innovation, but how knowledge worker slack work on different types of innovation has not been referred to. Using panel data of 277 listed companies in Small and Medium-Sized Plate from year 2012 to 2017 as sample, this paper employed Poisson Model to analyze the relationship between knowledge worker slack and ambidextrous innovation. Then, try to probe the moderation role of external environment characteristic (such as development level of factor market and market uncertainty). Studies show that knowledge worker slack plays an inverted U-shaped role in both exploitative innovation and exploration innovation, that is to say, too much or too little knowledge worker slack is not good to conduct different types innovative activities; the moderating effect of different environmental characteristics are heterogeneous between them. The role knowledge worker slack plays on both exploitative innovation and exploration innovation is weaken by development level of factor market. The influence knowledge worker slack has on both exploitative innovation and exploration innovation is strengthened by market uncertainty.
