The Impact of Work Pressure on Employees' Creativity |

Abstract By applying conversation of resource theory, regulatory focus theory and social cognitive theory, and based on the structural equation model analysis of 323 questionnaires, this paper explores the impact of challenge pressure and hindrance pressure on the employees′ creativity. The result shows that challenge pressure positively affects employees′ creativity, while the hindrance pressure negatively affects employees′ creativity. Challenge pressure positively affects the promotion focus and negatively affects the prevention focus, while hindrance pressure has the opposite effect. Promotion focus and prevention focus both mediate the relationship between work pressure and employees′ creativity. Creative self-efficacy also mediates the relationship between work pressure and employees′ creativity. The intermediary chain between regulatory focus and creative self-efficacy plays a significant role in mediating the relationship between work pressure and employees′ creativity.
