The Influence of Workplace Status on Employee Bootleg Innovation: The Role of Competence Face Stress and Concern for Status |

Abstract Based on the integration of face view and status view, this paper conducts an empirical analysis of 340 valid data collected from multi-time points, then it explores the effect of competence face stress and concern for status on the influence mechanism of workplace status on employees' bootleg innovation behavior. The results show that workplace status has a significant positive impact on employees' bootleg innovation behavior; Competence face stress mediates the positive relation of workplace status with employees′ bootleg innovation behavior; Concern for status not only positively moderates the positive influence of workplace status on employees′ bootleg innovation behavior, but also moderates the indirect effect of competence face stress between workplace status and employees′ bootleg innovation behavior, that is to say, the higher the concern for status, the stronger the mediating effect of competence face stress.
