为企业提供开放式环境的同时,创新生态系统也带来了诸多挑战。如何适应开放式环境、降低创新负外部性,实现企业可持续发展和创新生态系统良性运转成为亟待解决的问题。基于创新生态系统理论,构建数字技术应用驱动下的“责任式创新→生态嵌入性→组织韧性→可持续绩效”链式中介模型,探讨创新生态系统中制造企业责任式创新对可持续绩效的影响机制,以及数字技术应用的边界效应。采用SmartPLS中的偏最小二乘结构方程模型,通过分析338家制造企业问卷数据,实证结果表明:数字化新情境下,责任式创新是促进企业可持续绩效提升的关键因素;生态嵌入性、组织韧性在责任式创新对企业可持续绩效影响过程中发挥中介作用;责任式创新通过生态嵌入性、组织韧性这一链式中介提升企业可持续绩效;数字技术应用能够增强责任式创新对生态嵌入性的影响,以及生态嵌入性和组织韧性的链式中介效应。将责任式创新概念引入创新生态系统理论,以期丰富数字化情境下创新生态系统中的企业可持续绩效提升机制研究,同时基于责任式创新视角拓展创新生态系统理论内涵。
Innovation has shifted from linear to network and ecosystem forms. Negative externalities resulting from innovation,such as the ethics of artificial intelligence, privacy breaches in communications, and pollution of industrialized environments have begun to provoke reflection on the duality of innovation. The innovation ecosystem provides an open innovation environment for enterprises and, at the same time, puts forward higher requirements on issues such as respecting the needs of stakeholders, balancing the interests of stakeholders, data and information security, fairness and efficiency of innovation, and risk and sustainability of innovation. How to adapt to the open environment, reduce the negative externalities of innovation, and realize the sustainable development of enterprises and the healthy operation of the innovation ecosystem has become an urgent problem to be solved. Especially for manufacturing enterprises, open environment presents new challenges and reflections on innovation participation methods, innovation implementation mechanisms, and value creation models. Manufacturing enterprises need to reconstruct their innovation value network to avoid being eroded in the global economic transformation. In this context, exploring pathways to achieve sustainable performance in manufacturing enterprises is of great theoretical significance and practical value for the high-quality development of China's economy.
Following the innovation ecosystem theory, this paper constructs a chain mediation model of "responsible innovation→ecological embeddedness→organizational resilience→sustainable performance" driven by the application of digital technology. It explores the influence mechanism of corporate responsible innovation on sustainable performance in a responsible innovation ecosystem and the boundary effect of digital technology application. The study adopts the partial least squares structural equation model in SmartPLS to analyze the questionnaire data from 338 manufacturing enterprises. The empirical results show that responsible innovation is a key driver of sustainable performance in the new digital context; ecological embeddedness and organizational resilience mediate the impact of responsible innovation on sustainable performance, respectively; responsible innovation has a significant impact on sustainable performance through the chain mediators of ecological embeddedness and organizational resilience; and responsible innovation has a significant impact on sustainable performance through the chain mediators of ecological embeddedness and organizational resilience, respectively. The chain of mediation between ecological embeddedness and organizational resilience contributes to sustainable performance; the application of digital technology enhances the impact of responsible innovation on ecological embeddedness and the chain of mediation between ecological embeddedness and organizational resilience.
The innovation of this study is threefold. Firstly, there have been more studies focusing on the negative externalities of innovation, but few studies have explored how to deal with the negative externalities dilemma of innovation. This paper introduces the concept of responsible innovation into the innovation ecosystem theory and finds that responsible innovation is an effective way to solve the systemic dilemma of the innovation ecosystem and achieve sustainable organizational development. In addition, it enriches the mechanism research of responsible innovation on the ecological embeddedness and organizational resilience. Secondly, it constructs a chain mediation model of "responsible innovation→ecological embeddedness→organizational resilience→sustainable performance". It employs the partial least squares structural equation model of SmartPLS to discover the mechanism of responsible innovation's effect on sustainable performance enhancement and the chain mediating roles of ecological embeddedness and organizational resilience in firms' responsible innovation and sustainable performance. Thirdly, the boundary role of digital technology applications acting in the interaction of innovation ecosystems is revealed in the context of digitalization. The study introduces the concept of responsible innovation into the theory of innovation ecosystems, enriches the research on the mechanism of firms' sustainable performance enhancement in innovation ecosystems in the digital context, and expands the theoretical connotation of innovation ecosystems from the perspective of responsible innovation. The impact mechanism of responsible innovation on enterprises’ sustainable performance is not limited to the enterprise level. Future research can explore the interaction between other entities in the innovation ecosystem from other micro perspectives, such as employees and suppliers.
