The Influence of Digitalization Level on the Performance of New Product Development:based on the Mediating Role of Ambidextrous Innovation Capability |

Abstract In the perspective of digital transformation and dual innovation capability theory, this paper explores the non-linear impact of various dimensions of digital level on the performance of new product development of enterprises, and analyzes the mediating role of progressive and breakthrough innovation capability between digital level and new product development performance. The regression result shows that: (i) digital construction level has an inverted U-shaped impact on the enterprise new product development performance, the level of infrastructure construction in most of the eastern and central provinces have crossed the inflection point. Digital access level and application level have a U-shaped impact on the enterprise new product development performance, which decline first and then rise.Digital circulation level has a positive linear effect on the enterprise new product development performance. (ii) Dual innovation capability plays a significant intermediary role between digitalization level and new product development performance. Progressive innovation capability is a full mediator in the relationship between digital access level, digital circulation level and new product development performance respectively. Breakthrough innovation capability is a full mediator in the relationship between digital access level, digital application level, digital circulation level and new product development performance too. The breakthrough innovation capability has a more significant impact on the new product development performance development than progressive innovation.
