Abstract Besides market innovation and technology innovation, designdriven innovation has become the third approach for companies to achieving success in market competition. Companies with strong design innovation capability tend to occupy unique position sin the market with special competitive advantages. Based on team learning theory, this study builds a "behaviorcapabilityperformance" dualmoderator model to explore the mechanism and contextual conditions of how team boundary spanning behavior affects new product development performance. The empirical findings show that:①team boundary spanning behavior has a positive influence on new product development performance;② design innovation capability plays a mediating role between boundary spanning behavior and new product development performance; ③ team knowledge sharing moderates the relationship between boundary spanning behavior and design innovation capability, that is, the more knowledge sharing among a team, the greater the positive influence of boundary spanning behavior on design innovation capability; ④ team monitoring plays a moderating role between design innovation capability and new product development performance, that is, the stronger team monitoring, the greater the positive influence of design innovation capability on new product development performance.
