A Cross-level Model of Knowledge-based Team Conflict and Creativity Moderated by Leader Political Skills |

Abstract Drawing on leadership theory,this paper proposes that team leader political skills have moderating effects on the relationship between team conflict (relationship conflict and task conflict )and creativity at both individual and team level.Empirical data of 74 teams consisting of 455 members collected from a paired leader-members questionnaire indicated that,task conflict has an inverted U-shaped effect on and team creativity,team relationship conflict was negatively related to team and individual creativity; leader political skills weakened the negative effects of relationship conflict and strengthened the positive effects on individual creativity; leader political skills negatively moderated the inverted U-shaped relationship between task conflict and team creativity.
