Abstract Team innovation is critical to enterprise's sustainability. Existing literatures primarily investigate the antecedents of team innovation from team characteristics and process perspectives. Actually, external activities and internal-external interface activities is taken more seriously. This study establishes a mechanism model of team boundary spanning behavior's influence on team innovation performance by taking resource depletion as mediator variable and team trust as moderator variable. Through the statistical analysis of 510 team members in knowledge service industry, it is found that the three dimensions of team boundary spanning behavior (diplomatic behavior, coordination behavior and detection behavior) have a positive impact on team innovation performance, and team trust plays a completely moderating role between team diplomatic behavior, coordination behavior and detection behavior. Resource depletion plays a negative mediating role between team trust and team innovation performance.
