Abstract Industrial robots are one of the important content in the U.S. manufacturing revival plan, in the German industrial 4.0 strategy, and in the "Made in China 2025" plan. In the future, robot + Internet digital production mode will greatly transform the manufacturing industry. Although China has been the first big industrial robot market in the world for two consecutive years, China industrial robot has many problems, such as the low manufacturing capability of key components, the low brand awareness, and the low market shares. The reason is that there is a big technology gap between China's robot enterprise and the robot transnational enterprises. The paper shows that embedding the global value chain will produce "embedding learning effects" and "learning by doing effects", and then promote the technology progress to China's robot enterprises.
