Abstract Against the policy backdrop of " Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation", youth entrepreneurial behavior has a relatively promising potential for development. However, due to the lack of entrepreneurial experience or resources, young entrepreneurs often encounter the dilemma of high risks of failure and low viability of entrepreneurship. At present, in the context of digital economy, digital technology has broken the limitations of entrepreneurial behavior in terms of space, facilities and resources, and has become a new and dynamic element in the entrepreneurial ecology. How to build an entrepreneurial ecology embedded in digital technology to improve youth entrepreneurial performance is a critical initiative to implement China's innovation-driven development strategy.#br#Entrepreneurial ecology is a combination of elements of entrepreneurial environment based on ecological theory from a systemic perspective, emphasizing that entrepreneurial behavior can be influenced by multiple subjects such as politics, economy, and culture. This study introduces digital technology into the traditional entrepreneurial ecology and constructs a theoretical model in which digital technology and entrepreneurial ecology jointly influence youth entrepreneurial performance. To empirically test the validity of the research model, it first uses purposive sampling to search for young entrepreneurs who meet the criteria as the research subjects. After completing the data cleaning, a sample of 417 valid entrepreneurs is obtained. For the analysis approach, this study uses a mixed method, combining regression analysis and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis, to explore the mechanism and configuration of entrepreneurial ecology under the embedding of digital technology that affects youth entrepreneurial performance. Regression analysis is a statistical technique based on independent and linear relationships between variables, and it emphasizes the symmetry of cause and effect and focuses on the marginal "net effect" of the independent variable on the outcome variable. The QCA technique is based on the pooling relationship to examine the combination of multiple related factors and the equivalence of multiple different configurations, allowing for a more contextual interpretation of the results of regression analysis.#br#The research has three main findings. First, there is a linear and subset relationship among government policy, market environment, social culture, digital technology and youth entrepreneurial performance. This conclusion indicates that youth entrepreneurship has a significant resource dependence effect under the conditions of lack of experience and limited funding. Second, the digital technology and elements of entrepreneurial ecology play an interactive facilitation effect in the mechanism affecting youth entrepreneurial performance, explaining that digital technology can play an enabling role by helping young entrepreneurs transform their entrepreneurial resources into feasible capabilities through complementary means. Third, the digital synergistic entrepreneurial ecology coupled by multiple factors achieves high entrepreneurial performance of youth through the joint action, which highlights the various elements of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and together with digital technology, and provides the necessary ecological space, technological support, and supporting resource elements for the development of startups.#br#Thus the government, market and society should pay attention to the uniqueness of youth entrepreneurial activities, and make precise policies and optimizations for the key entrepreneurial ecosystem elements. The key role of digital technology in fostering youth entrepreneurship and improving youth innovation and entrepreneurial output should be stressed, to promote the sharing and proliferation of data resources and digital technology among multiple actors to create a synergistic digital entrepreneurship ecosystem.#br#Compared with previous studies, this study introduces some novelties in the following three aspects. First, it integrates digital technology into the framework of entrepreneurial ecosystem analysis and verifies that there is an interactive promotion relationship between it and the elements of entrepreneurial ecosystem in influencing entrepreneurial performance, which makes up for the lack of research on entrepreneurial ecosystem in the era of digital economy. Second, it is found that young entrepreneurs are able to use new factors, such as digital technology, to integrate resources under the predicament of lack of experience or capital, further enriching the exploration of entrepreneurial participant subjects. Third, the combining of regression analysis and qualitative comparative analysis of fuzzy sets not only provides a theoretical reference for promoting more systematic thinking in innovation and entrepreneurship research, but also complements the use of methodological tools in related studies in this field.#br#
