System Identification,Structural Dynamics and Impacts on Innovation Performance of Inventors' Network Community |

Abstract Starting from the phenomenon of clustering R&D,Girvan Newman algorithm based on modularity Q index is used to dynamically identify network communities of inventors’ collaborative innovation.Through dynamic tracking of network communities,community dynamics are defined as community turnover and community’s bridge stability.Impacts of structural dynamics of network communities on innovation performance are investigated by using negative binomial models under the moderating role of network locations.The findings show that inventors' collaborative innovation presents obvious dynamic community structures.Community turnover exerts an inverted U-shaped influence on inventor's innovation performance.Community's bridge stability positively affects inventor's innovation and positively moderates the above inverted U-shaped relationship.The locations of both network core and structure hole positively moderate the above inverted U-shaped relationship,negatively moderate the positive influence of community's bridge stability on innovation performance and negatively influences the moderating effect of community bridge's stability on the inverted U-shaped relationship.This research is helpful to understand the clustering R&D behavior and guide the governance and rights allocation of innovation networks.
