Abstract On the basis of the mechanism that bank market structure affects social innovation which then works for industrial structure upgrading,the paper finds support for the mechanism using the 30 provinces samples in China and the dynamic spatial panel model.The conclusion shows that the impact of bank market structure measured by bank concentration on corporate innovation and industrial upgrading is spatially correlated.Corporate innovation plays an intermediary role between banking market structure and industrial structure upgrading,which means weakening the dominant position of large banks in the financial market could promote industrial structure upgrading by encouraging innovation.The conclusion provides theoretical guarantee for optimizing the financial system structure and making reasonable adjustment to the industrial structure.
