Abstract The creative research group is the highlevel scientific research innovation team supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China.Analyzing and grasping the structural features and cooperative network configuration of creative research groups, could improve the efficiency of cooperation and promote the original innovation.Through the visualization analysis of knowledge maps of cooperation networks of excellent creative research groups, we find and verify excellent groups have lattice structure with high network density value, while the main nodes have high cooperation frequency and betweenness centrality.Based on the comparative analysis of scientometrics, the excellent group lattice structure has been summarized as two forms: "singlenuclear radiation type" and "multiquasinucleus equilibrium type".There are two cooperation modes of main members: "leadingtype leader + followtype research cadres" and "coordinated leadership + quasicrystal research cadres".Two types of configurations are intertwined, but the degrees differ.
