An Empirical Research on the Effect of Entrepreneurial Orientation on Innovation Performance:the Perspective of Customer Empowerment and Open Innovation |

Abstract Now firms usually use open innovation as their innovation paradigm in open economy. This paper investigates the effect mechanism of entrepreneurial orientation on innovation performance from the open innovation theory perspective, and particularly discuss the moderating role of customer empowerment. It introduces three concepts, namely, entrepreneurial orientation, customer empowerment and open innovation. Here open innovation is a moderator, customer empowerment is a mediator. Basing on these it builds a moderated mediation model. Utilizing data of 259 firms from the manufacturing industry to testify this model. The empirical results show that open innovation partially mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and innovation performance, meanwhile customer empowerment positively moderates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and open innovation, open innovation is positively correlated with innovation performance, customer empowerment is positively correlated with innovation performance, and in the end it discusses some managerial implications and future research prospects.
