Abstract Based on the survey of 209 manufacturing firms and 944 suppliers, employing the analytic technique of Hierarchical Linear Model analyzes the moderating effect of public selection and social selection on the relationship between the interaction of contract control and relation control and the suppliernetwork's knowledge acquisition. The empirical results show that both contract control and relation control can improve the suppliernetwork's knowledge acquisition, and the relationship between those two kinds of control mechanisms is substitute. The public selection of partner selection strengthens this substitute effect, and the social selection of partner selection weakens this substitute effect.
