Abstract The study on the actual effects of industrial agglomeration and diversification on economic growth of top ten urban agglomerations in China, is of great theoretical and practical value to optimize and upgrade the industrial structure under the new normal conditions and transform the economic development ways. In this paper, the industrial agglomeration and diversification are integrated into the production function by constructing the CD equation of total factor productivity and then evaluation studies would be taken about the real effects between the industrial agglomeration and diversification of the top ten urban agglomerations in 2003-2014 and the actual economic growth of the secondary and tertiary industries . And then the detailed analysis of the assessment results can be pushed through the measurement of the mid-level industrial clustering and regional overall diversification.
