Abstract Abstract:The source of all innovative activities comes from knowledge. Effective management of knowledge is of great importance to organizational radical innovation. Most present literatures make research on the important influence of knowledge on innovation from the angle of the acquirement and absorption of knowledge. Few researches mention how to deal with old knowledge and how to treat the relation between new and old knowledge. An empirical study is made to test the effect of the two dimensions of organizational intentional forgetting on enterprises' radical innovation through making an investigation of 233 advanced manufacturing corporations. At the same time, the mediating role of knowledge governance (both formal governance and informal governance) and the moderating role of market turbulence have also been explored. The results show that ideas and formalities forgetting have significant positive effect on radical innovation. Both formal knowledge governance and informal knowledge governance have great positive effect on radical innovation. Knowledge governance plays a partial mediating role between organizational intentional forgetting and enterprises' radical innovation. Market turbulence shows a moderating role.
