Research on Vertical Dyad Linkage in Top Management Team and Corporate Innovation |

Abstract This paper examines the relationship between the vertical dyad linkage in top management team and corporate innovation from the point of view of the background characteristics of managers, using the data of Chinese listed companies. The results demonstrate that, first, there is no significantly correlation between the vertical dyad linkage of gender and corporate innovation. Second, the vertical dyad linkage of age has a significant negative effect on corporate innovation. Third, the vertical dyad linkage of education has a significant positive effect on the patent for appearance design, the total amount of patent and R&D. Fourth, the vertical dyad linkage of tenure has no effect on the patent, but has a significant negative effect on R&D. Finally, there are significant differences between state-owned and non-state-owned companies when we distinguish the nature of property rights.
