Abstract The significant variance of crowdfunding ratio has attained great attention from the practitioner and academics. To explore the critical factors which impact the fluctuation of the funding ratio, based on a dataset with 1898 rewarded crowdfunding project, this paper reveals that the factors that give impact to the finding ratio in China crowdfunding context have different characteristics than in developed countries; the relative contribution of project attributes to the funding ratio are higher than the funder attributes; both art and technology type project have significant impact to the funding ratio. Theoretic contributions and practical implications are concluded in the end.
