Abstract Regarding the change of production and cognitive of knowledge as the clue,it investigates process from incommensurability to commensurability between universities and industries. This process can be roughly divided into independent type, contact type and collaborative type. By studying the historical evolution process of collaborative innovation between universities and industries and analyzing the characteristics of production synergy evolution,it is helpful to put forward policy suggestions to promote collaborative innovation between universities and industries.
